STUDENT SUCCESS

Human Ecology undergraduate student Janna Ehrenholz won the from the Canadian Home Economics Foundation.
REES 3MT competition
The annual REES 3 Minute Thesis competition was another outstanding showing by the second-year graduate students in the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology (REES). This tradition, started by professor emeritus Peter Boxall, challenges students to simply explain their graduate research in just three minutes, making the event a thought-provoking roundup of the many topics covered in the department. Kudos to everyone who participated, and congratulations to the winners who received donor-funded monetary prizes:

FACULTY EXCELLENCE
We continue to be proud of our award-winning faculty members who were recognized in recent months, including:
- Vickie Baracos (cross-appointed in AFNS) who was appointed to the
- Anne Bissonnette (HE) received a from the Costume Society of America for a sustainable design in a project titled, “Zero Waste Thinking: Portrait Tunic and Palazzo Pants.”
- Carla Prado (AFNS) who became a 黑料不打烊 Distinguished Professor
- Jianping Wu (AFNS) who received the
ALUMNI AWARDS
U of A alumni around the globe use their education to make the world a better place through their professional achievements, community service and innovation. The Alumni Awards recognize these contributions and tell the stories of our exceptional alumni, inspiring us all to lead with purpose. This year, two ALES alumni received awards:
- Bryan Perkins, ’69 BSc(Ag) was recognized with an alumni honour award for his contributions to his profession and community following a nomination from his classmates.
- Loreen Wales, ’93 BSc(HEc), ’95 BA received an alumni innovation award for her work on My Viva Plan®, one of the earliest comprehensive digital health programs powered by data-driven technologies to support people with chronic diseases.
