Cell Biology Inspires "Discovery Days"

On Thursday, October 16, the Department of Cell Biology once again proudly participated in the Discovery Days in Health Sciences event, showcasing diverse career paths to local secondary school students, particularly those in Grades 10 and 11.

Hosted in partnership with the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF), the event provided participants with invaluable hands-on experience and direct interaction with researchers, clinicians, and educators in their real-life work settings. Students engaged in interactive workshops, attended a dynamic keynote lecture, and gained career insights from the "Health Pros Tell All" panel discussion.

The Department of Cell Biology's involvement highlights its commitment to fostering the next generation of medical and health science leaders. In line with the CMHF's dedication to inclusion, the event actively encourages the participation of students who identify as Indigenous, Black, or a Person of Colour, or who come from rural or disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds, ensuring a more diverse pathway to health care careers. This initiative helps aspiring students gain a clearer picture of their futures and understand the rewarding journey in health sciences.
