Elizabeth Rohlman is an associate professor in the Department of Classics and Religion, University of Calgary. She is an historian of religion whose research examines the role of narrative literature in articulating and constructing religious identity in premodern South Asia. Her research examines the regional pur膩峁嘺s* of Gujarat, including the Sarasvat墨 Pur膩峁嘺, as well as the pur膩峁噄c genre more generally, especially with respect to the M膩rka峁囜笉eya Pur膩峁嘺.

* Pur膩峁嘺s: any of a class of Sanskrit sacred writings containing Hindu legends and folklore of varying date and origin, the most ancient of which dates from the 4th century AD.
