Trans & Queer Game Design (MST 399) students organize Haptic Play Arcade
14 May 2025
Students in MST 399: Trans & Queer Game Design, taught by PB Berge, organized A Haptic Play Arcade event in the first week of April.
Students demoed game projects that they created using alternative, custom controllers and interfaces that they designed. These included voice-controlled games, mannequin heads made into game controllers, and even board/card games.
Heero facilitating "The Social Anxiety Game," a roleplaying board game, for Tiauna.
Chidinma watching Peri play through her game, "After the Phantoms of Your Former Self." The controller for the game includes a handwritten journal, and the player controls the avatar by pressing down on specific words on the page.
Myles and Ash demonstrating their custom launchpad controller with popular fighting game, Tekken. The launchpad controller uses hardware meant for music production to create an opposed two-player setup.
