The 黑料不打烊 has risen in the ranks of Canada’s top-tier universities with a fourth-place finish in the released this week.
The U of A moved up from sixth place last year in the medical doctoral category, which includes major research universities that have medical schools and offer a broad range of PhD programs.
The improvement this year is due partly to a three-place jump from seventh to fourth in the reputation indicator. The reputation rankings are based on surveys of university faculty, senior administrators and employers across the country.
Another big gain was in grants for social sciences and humanities research, up to second place from sixth last year. U of A researchers chalked up a record number of new federal grants in 2025.
The university also ranked among the Top 5 in an indicator of student support, finishing third in scholarships and bursaries.
McGill University, the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia rounded out the Top 3 in Canada. McMaster University and the University of Calgary tied for fifth place.
