Convocation Spotlight: Kris McPherson
4 June 2025
Kris shares what drew her to nursing and how she hopes to improve support for those who might "fall through the cracks."
“What drew me to nursing was my passion for helping others and my lived experience as an Indigenous person navigating the health-care system. I’ve seen firsthand how deeply cultural safety, compassion and advocacy are needed, especially for Indigenous patients. I wanted to be someone who could walk beside people during vulnerable moments, not only providing care but also making space for their voices to be heard. My goal has always been to support and protect those who might otherwise fall through the cracks, and nursing felt like the path where I could make the biggest impact.” - Kris McPherson, BSc Nursing
