Are you looking for the ultimate attire to attend a varsity game, wear on GREEN+GOLD Fridays or show your U of A pride? 

Look no further because the annual returns this fall to North Campus from October 6-10. Visit the on the lower level of SUB, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to browse the new collection and choose your favourite items to add to your wardrobe. 

This year’s limited edition design features a vintage and varsity lettered-inspired collection of green and grey hoodies, crewnecks, quarter-zips and sweatpants, as well as short and long-sleeve tees. 

One of my main motivations to keep up with the different Bookstore designs is to match outfits with the Bookstore bear, a great friend of mine. The Bookstore bear is constantly modelling new outfits that I use for inspiration. 

I visited the Bookstore to try on all the collection’s designs and all the possible colour and style combinations. Here are my recommendations: 

Style it through the seasons

These items are a great investment because you can wear them during fall and winter. The fabric’s really soft and warm to keep you cozy on a cold, windy day. The hoodies and pants are comfortable to wear all day, and light enough to add another layer to your outfit on colder days. 

Get a complete set in either green or grey for a synchronized look.

If you’re looking to go for the complete outfit, green pants pair perfectly with a crewneck or hoodie. 

To complement the look, add accessories that match the colour of the letters in the design. The green items have gold writing, while the grey ones have green writing. For the green set, you can wear a gold hat or shoes to take your U of A pride to the next level. 

For a creative and relaxed look, mix and match colours and designs

Grey pants go great with a green hoodie, and green pants can be the perfect pairing with a grey long or short-sleeved tee. All items have the same design, so no matter what colour combination you choose, each piece will complement your outfit.

The Bookstore also sells hats, scarves, socks, mugs and water bottles. The GUBA and Patches hat makes a great duo with the quarter-zips and crewnecks, for cold winter days. And to embody the GREEN+GOLD spirit from head to toe (literally!) — a pair of U of A socks, of course!

Pants and tees are comfortable and flexible for a workout, and cozy for a long study session at the library. The hoodies are the most versatile of all — you can add them on top of a complete outfit to stay warm, or wear basic layers and let the hoodie carry the whole outfit. 

I always make sure to visit the Bookstore during the Hoodie Sale. I like to collect at least one item from the limited-edition collection every year to build my GREEN+GOLD wardrobe during my degree. 

My favourite?

This year, the green quarter-zip hoodie is my favourite of the collection! The emblematic U of A green and gold on the design make it a must-have for all students.
