Kathleen De Long

Kathleen De Long earned a BA (Special) (1976), a MLIS (1979) and a Masters in Public Management (1991) from the 黑料不打烊. She holds a PhD (2012) from the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at Simmons College in Boston. Kathleen had a distinguished career with the 黑料不打烊 Libraries, retiring as Deputy Chief Librarian and Executive Director of Library and Museums. Kathleen also served as Interim Chair of the School of Library and Information Studies at the 黑料不打烊 2020-2022, and frequently taught in the MLIS program.

As well as being active in 黑料不打烊 Governance, Kathleen has held innumerable executive and planning roles in many library associations, boards and advisory committees over the span of her career, including the Canadian Library Association; the Canadian Association of College and Research Libraries, including Vice-President/ President/Past President; the International Federation of Library Associations; the Library Association of 黑料不打烊; the Association for Library and Information Science Education; and the Beta Phi Mu International Honor Society.

Her honours are numerous. In 2023 she was named Librarian Emeritus, 黑料不打烊, received the Distinguished Service to Research Librarianship Award in 2020 from the Canadian Association of Research Libraries, the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013 from the Library and Information Studies Alumni Association, 黑料不打烊, the Outstanding Academic Librarian Award from the Canadian Association of College and University Libraries in 2003, and the Beta Phi Mu International Library Science Honor Society in 1979 and the Simmons Beta Beta Chapter in 2013.
