Alix Drugs IDA
What makes practicing pharmacy in a rural area rewarding is getting to know the members of the community. Our interactions are most commonly repeat interactions and as there are currently no physicians in the community we become the first point of contact for a diverse range of health-related concerns. Working for Alix Drugs provides a huge sense of pride and accomplishment that accompanies rural practice, but with the benefit of a reasonable commute from larger communities for those who prefer it. We are located about a half hour east of Red Deer or Lacombe, and about half an hour west of Stettler. As the current owner of this independent pharmacy is a full-time pharmacist and licensee, time off is negotiated between the pharmacists in a way which really focuses on having a quality of life both at work, and away from the job. The pharmacy is just busy enough that we can offer competitive compensation packages, but not so busy that you go home after a day of work totally burnt out (well at least most of the time). We also work collaboratively with a nearby Detox/Rehabilitation Center which adds some excitement to our practice.
The owner Scott Dyer is a recent UofA Graduate (Class of 2021) and former student board member on the RxA. We are always excited to meet new pharmacists and promote the benefits of both rural and independent pharmacy!
